This was extremely refreshing to read as I'm starting my day. It's a message that is so core to my being, and 'exquisite listening' is delighting my mind. I believe deep down that true listening and receiving is really the answer, and I appreciate the reminder that I'm not alone in thinking that.
To be heard, understood and have your feelings validated is, l believe, one of the greatest gifts you can give a person. Also, as you so rightly point out, to resist giving advice is so important. If someone asks for advice, then by all means, but don't make it about what you think they should do, when mostly they just want you to listen.
Thank you. Yes, so often we just want to be heard, understood and to be validated. Advice can be an intrusion on our own sense of rightness, even if offered with the best of intentions.
Ah Leslie, this is a timely piece considering the World as it is right now. I am so glad you took the time to write this. I offer my listening ear in counselling to neurodivergent people here in the UK, and the training I received from you, Serge and Jan still stays with me and influences how I practice today.

There are many of us... I think we are often just the quieter ones. So glad I've helped start your day with delight.
Never thought of not being listened to as a wound in itself. Yet it's one I've experienced many times. Love ur title.
This is a beautiful piece of thought. Thank you.

So lovely to hear from you, and glad to hear the focusing training has had a lasting impact in the important work you do in the world.
Beautiful 🙏
So beautifully and clearly put. Deep Listening is such a big missing piece in our world. Thanks!
A lost art indeed. Thanks for sharing this Peter.
Wonderfully said, Leslie. Thank you. And I wish this could be widely read.
Thank you Tina. Yes, I wish everyone would not only read this, but actually adopt this way of listening. The world would be a better place.
It would change everything. May we be the growing edge.
